Number 7 Seed: Western Conference

11mavs

The 2011 Dallas Mavericks come in at the number 7 spot in the Western Conference. The lone title in Mavericks history came at the expense of the great LeBron James, in a thrilling comeback from a 0-2 series deficit.  After another first round exit in 2010, the Mavericks struck out on every big free agent in the summer as well. Once the dust settled, the Mavs signed C Tyson Chandler to play alongside All-Star PF Dirk Nowitzki. The Mavs got off to a roaring start, but injuries to Dirk and Caron Butler slowed their pace, and they earned the number 3 seed in the West. In the playoffs, the Mavs went 16-5 while sweeping the reigning two-time Champion LA Lakers, and beat a young-and-upstart Thunder squad in the Western Conference Finals, winning seven playoff games in a row at one point. In the NBA Finals, the Mavs faced LeBron James, Dwyane Wade & the Miami Heat. Down 0-2 in the series, the Mavericks climbed out of a 15-point hole in the 4th quarter of Game 3 to win the game. That sparked the magic the Mavericks needed, as they went on to win the next three games, winning their first NBA title.
