Number 9 Seed: Western Conference

The 1971 Bucks come in at the number 9 seed in the Western conference, however some say they should be much higher. The NBA had 17 teams in 1971 (while the competing ABA had 11 teams), did not have a three point line, and did not keep stats for blocks, steals and offensive/defensive rebounding, hence the rating. This team only lost 18 games (16 regular season + 2 in postseason) all year long, en route to a dominating title run. The Bucks earned the #1 seed going into the playoffs, lost only one game each to the Warriors & Lakers, then swept the Bullets in Finals. Kareem showed the world a preview of what was to come, dominating the regular season and playoffs to earn his first Regular Season MVP & Finals MVP. The Bucks featured a big three of Kareem, Oscar Robertson & Bob Dandridge that was ultimately too much for the rest of the league.
