Last Updated:  7/7/18 6:33 AM PST

July 2018

Saturday, July 7

Kyle Anderson Signs Offer Sheet

Restricted free agent F Kyle Anderson 4 Year/$37.2M offer sheet with the Memphis Grizzlies. The Spurs have 48 hours to match the offer. Anderson is a Popovich kind-of-dude, and I see the Spurs matching this.

Friday, July 6

Zach LaVine Signs Offer Sheet

Restricted free agent G Zach LaVine has agreed to a 4 Year/$78M offer sheet with the Sacramento Kings. The Chicago Bulls has 48 hour to match the offer, or let LaVine walk, but the rumor is that they will match.

Tony Parker Joins Hornets

Veteran PG Tony Parker has signed a 2 Year/$10M deal with the Charlotte Hornets. This is a complete surprise, as TP has only been a Spur. He joins his French mate Nic Batum in Charlotte.

Nurkic/Blazers Agree to Deal

C Jusuf Nurkic has agreed to re-sign with the Portland Trailblazers, signing a 4 Year/$48M contract. Nurkic was acquired from the Nuggets in 2016/17 and has done a nice job as the starting center.

Melo/OKC to Part Ways

F Carmelo Anthony and the Oklahoma City Thunder will work to find another home for the superstar. Melo just opted into the final year of his deal at $27.9M. By either getting rid of Melo, the Thunder save over $100M.

Pacers sign O’Quinn

The Pacers sign C Kyle O’Quinn to a 1 Year/$4.5M deal. O’Quinn played the last two seasons with the Knicks and will provide energy off the bench. Indiana continues to improve their depth.

Thursday, July 5

Sixers land Bjelica

F Nemanja Bjelica has agreed to a deal with the Philadelphia 76ers for 1 Year /$4.4M. Bjelica should provide some nice minutes off the bench for this Sixers.

Tuesday, July 3

Dwight in D.C.

C Dwight Howard has agreed to sign the mid-level exception for one year in Washington. He was officially bought-out of the final year of his contract with the Nets, and will look to provide defense and rebounding for the Wiz.

Exum Stays Put

G Dante Exum stayed is staying in Utah for a few more years. He agreed to a 3 Year/$33M deal with the Jazz. Exum is a very talented prospect and will look to break through these next few years.

Sixers/Nuggets Trade

The Nuggets have traded F Wilson Chandler (and his $12.8M salary) to the 76ers. The Sixers will absorb Chandler’s contract into their cap space. The Nuggets are also sending a 2021 second round pick, & the rights to swap second round picks in 2022. The Nuggets will receive minimal cash considerations, but they are happy to just get rid of Chandler from their books.

76ers Receive:

F Wilson Chandler
2021 Second Round Pick

DENNuggets Receive:

2022 Second Round Pick Swap
Cash Considerations

Jazz/Neto Agree to Deal

G Raul Neto agrees to a deal with the Utah Jazz for 2 Year/$4.4M. Neto has spent all three of his NBA years with the Jazz, so sticking around makes sense.

Wizards sign Green

F Jeff Green continues his tour of the NBA, this time agreeing to terms with the Washington Wizards. 1 Year deal at the minimum for Green to be the 6th man for the Wiz.

Tyreke Chooses Pacers

Wing-man Tyreke Evans decided to sign a 1 Year/$12M deal with the Indiana Pacers. Tyreke could start at the three, but if he plays as well as he did last year, he will 100% start.

MCW goes to Houston

G Michael Carter-Williams has agreed to a one-year deal for the minimum with the Houston Rockets. MCW has played well at times, but not so much recently.

Monday, July 2

Boogie Surprise!

C DeMarcus Cousins surprises the world and signs a 1 Year/$5.3M deal with the reigning back-to-back NBA champs. This is a shocking move in what was already a crazy day. He should be back around the All-Star break.

Randle Joins Pelicans

F Julius Randle has agreed to join the New Orleans Pelicans. Randle signs a 2 Year/$18M deal after asking to be renounced by the Lakers. Seems the Pelicans are offering him a much bigger role, plus AD is a Kentucky guy.

Bradley stays in L.A.

G Avery Bradley has decided to stay a member of the Los Angeles Clippers, agreeing to a 2 Year/$25M deal. Bradley is a great defender, who had a bad season last year and is looking bounce back in a big way.

Mike Scott Joins Clippers

Backup F Mike Scott has decided to join the Los Angeles Clippers for a one year deal. Scott will provide some depth, shooting, and some toughness to this roster.

Curry Goes to Portland

G Seth Curry has agreed to join the Portland Trailblazers for 2 Years/$6M. This means Curry will play his brother four times a year. Hopefully he can recover from his recent knee injury and be productive off the bench.

Rondo Lands in L.A.

G Rajon Rondo has agreed to sign a 1 Year/$9M deal with the Los Angeles Lakers. Rondo could start alongside Lonzo, but lacks shooting. I predict Rondo will come off the bench to lead a hungry second unit.

Nerlens Noel joins OKC

C Nerlens Noel signs a 2 Year/$3.5M deal to go to Oklahoma City. Last year, he turned down a 4 Year/$70M deal with Dallas. Yikes. Regardless, he can still make a difference. OKC is loading up to battle the Warriors and LeBron.

Tolliver Joins Wolves

F Anthony Tolliver has decided to sign a deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves. He’s a nice piece off the bench and adds depth to the Wolves bigs.

Calderon back in Detroit

G Jose Calderon has signed a 1 Year/$2.4M contract to join the Detroit Pistons. He can still shoot the three, but will be used for depth and leadership at this point.

Redick Re-Signs in Philly

G JJ Redick has agreed to re-sign in Philadelphia for one more year. The deal will pay JJ around $12M or $13M. It’s quite a pay decrease for him, but this allows the Sixers to try and get other talent.

Favors Stays In Utah

Big-man Derrick Favors agrees to sign a 2 Year/$36M deal to remain a member of the only franchise he’s ever known. Favors played well down the stretch, and cashed in nicely.

Sunday, July 1

LeBron joins Lakers

Superstar F LeBron James has decided to join the LA Lakers. LeBron signs a 4 Year/$156M deal, with an opt-out after the third year. LeBron will most likely pass Kareem’s scoring total, as a Laker. Huge win for Magic and co.

Payton signs with Pels

G Elfrid Payton has agreed to a 1 Year/$2.7M deal with the New Orleans Pelicans. This is Payton’s third team, and New Orleans really needs a young PG. Payton could learn a thing or two from Rondo.

Lance Makes Em Dance in LA

Swingman Lance Stephenson joins the LA Lakers with a 1 Year/$4.5M deal. This fills the Lakers mid-level exception, as Stephenson fills a back up swingman role.

McGee Joins Lakers

C Javale McGee has signed a One Year deal for the league minimum. McGee could start, but should come off the bench to spell the Lakers bigs.

Aaron Gordon Stays in Orlando

Former slam-dunk champ Aaron Gordon re-signs in Orlando with a 4 Year/$84M deal. This is quite a payday for AG, as he looks to take control of the Magic franchise.

KCP Stays in LA

G Kentavious Caldwell-Pope has agreed to stay in LA with a 1 Year/$12M deal. KCP is represented by Klutch sports, which is LeBron’s agency, so this makes complete sense.

Hezonia joins Knicks

G Mario Hezonia has agreed to a deal with the New York Knicks. Terms of the deal are not yet known, but Hezonia still has a lot of upside, which is exactly what new HC David Fizdale is looking for.

Van Vleet stays in Canada

G Fred Van Vleet signs a 2 Year/$18M deal to stay in Toronto. He really came into his own last season, and looks to build off of that momentum.

Pistons sign GRIII

F Glenn Robinson III signs a 2 Year/$8.3M with the Detroit Pistons. Robinson should provide some punch off the bench next season.

Durant Re-signs with the Champs

F Kevin Durant re-signs in Golden State for 2 Years/$61.5M. The second year is a player-option, so we could do this all over again next year.

Paul George stays in OKC

F Paul George has signed a 4 years/$137M deal to stay a member of the Thunder. The final year is a player-option, but this is a significant move for OKC, because it seemed like PG to LAL was a lock.

CP3 stays in Houston

G Chris Paul has re-signed with the Houston Rockets for 4 Years/$160M. CP3 got his pay-day, and good for him. Houston’s All-NBA backcourt is locked up for the next few years to battle the Warriors.

DJ Lands in Dallas (Finally)

C DeAndre Jordan signs a one-year deal with the Dallas Mavericks for $24.1M. Jordan spurned the Mavericks back in 2013, but seems there are no hard-feelings. He’s from Texas, so this is a homecoming of sorts.

Ariza signs in Phoenix

Veteran F Trevor Ariza signs a one-year deal with the Phoenix Suns for $15M. Ariza will look to be a veteran-leader on a very young team, and be paid handsomely for it.

Jerami Grant Re-Signs in OKC

F Jerami Grant signs a 3 Year/$27M deal to stay in OKC. Grant seems to be the starting PF of the future for the Thunder, so this deal could signify the end of the Melo era.

Dougie McBuckets Goes to Indy

Sharpshooting G Doug McDermott signs a three year deal with the Pacers for $22M. McDermott should fit in well with this Pacers team and provide some much needed three-point shooting.

Ilyasova Goes Back to Milwaukee

Veteran F Ersan Ilyasova signs a 3 Year/$21M deal with the Bucks. Ilyasova previous played in Milwaukee from 2007-2014. He brings a veteran presence, craftiness and three-point shooting.

Joe Harris Re-signs in Brooklyn

G Joe Harris re-signs with the Brooklyn Nets for 2 years/$16M. Harris showed promise in 2017/18, and looks to build off his first double-digit scoring season.

Baynes stays in Boston

C Aron Baynes stays in Boston with a 2 Year/$11M deal. Baynes signs a team-friendly deal to remain a Celtic, and showed his value as a back-up big.

Rudy Gay stays a Spur

Rudy Gay stays in San Antonio after signing a one-year deal for $10M. Gay opted out of his deal that would have paid him $8.8M, so this is a nice upgrade for him. Plus, if Kawhi leaves, this equates for more minutes.

Ed Davis Goes to Brooklyn

Veteran big-man Ed Davis signs a one-year/$4.4M deal with the Nets. The Nets are expected to waive recently-acquired C Dwight Howard, so this frees up minutes for Davis.

D-Rose Rose on EmojiOne 3.1 Stays in Minny

G Derrick Rose signs a one-year deal to return to the Timberwolves. Rose is nowhere near the MVP he once was, however he’s still very serviceable, perhaps even a borderline starter.

Omri Casspi Goes to Memphis

F Omri Casspi has signed a one-year deal to join the Memphis Grizzlies. The Grizz were awful last year, and Casspi provides a veteran presence in the locker room and outside shooting.

Marco Bellineli is back!

Clippers/Wizards Trade

The Clippers and Wizards have agreed to a trade. The Wizards receive G Austin Rivers, while the Clippers get C Marcin Gortat.
